UNDERSTANDING THE VISION
Pakam project goal was to use technology to connect waste from the general public to waste companies across the board in real-time by scheduling waste pickup directly from their mobile devices. They would no longer be regimented to filling out forms online, waiting for the waste company's calls and quotes.
Pakam envisioned a few key areas for their initial product offering as proof of concept. The critical key features included:
1
Waste Pickup
Schedule for waste pickup directly from Pakam Mobile app without a need for an external app.
2
Live Incidence
Report live incidence and related security issues to the right authorities directly from the app and chat with them in real-time.
3
Community Chat
Interact with other users within the same community directly from the app and get up-to-date information.
4
Support Channel
Access to real-time support channel directly from the app and get actionable feedback/response.

From the beginning, the CEO recognized the importance of design. They created a preliminary sketch and requested my assistance in refining it. I collaborated with the stakeholders and the project manager to develop the app from scratch. This involved working closely with the developers to design and launch the mobile app, website, and analytical dashboard.
THE CHALLENGE
The focus for this project was to make waste pickup easier and to provide leverage to means of reporting some basic housing communities. The initial problem that birthed this idea according to the stakeholders was to solve a problem of reducing waste disposal by generating zero waste and illegal dumping of waste products.
DESIGN PROCESS
1
Collation of all requirements and understanding the user business needs and goals.
2
Design strategy, process planning and implementation.
3
Ideating, wire framing for a holistic user product.
4
Designing of a holistic product style guide and hi-fidelity prototype for usable code implementation.
5
Organising and handing over all necessary assets for holistic product development.

Our Resilience Kept Us
At one point, we weren't getting the results we wanted. We worked tirelessly all night, but the system kept failing. Our goal was to make this work, and our guiding question was simply: why not?
We aimed for Pakam to be the first app that people think of when they need to dispose of their waste.
END TO END DESIGN.

Right from the start. Understanding the value of design, The CEO came up with a rough sketch and asked me to help make it great. I worked with the stakeholders and the PM to design the app from the ground up—along with the developers, to design and implement the mobile app, the website and the analytical dashboard.
